tropical rainforest discovery platform

We are instructed to form a group of 4 to come up with our own interpretation of a "Tropical Rainforest Discovery Platform" within 125m3 according the the given brief for this project. We are instructed to select a site and habitat and have a design response towards it, shown in our structure. We are also encouraged to use the architectural design principles from the last project to start off out design and explore the materiality as well as spatial qualities of the structure. For the presentation board, we need work on diagrams, 1:50 orthographic drawings, a 1:5 detailed drawing and a key drawing.

Overall, this was a fun group project as we get to make model together as a team. This team was much better than team in the previous project as tasks were already assigned early on and we did an ice breaking session among ourselves so we get to be more comfortable with each other and we know each other's strengths so we get to utilize it and be more efficient. Although communication in the team was not the best as there is a member that doesn't participate a lot, it was much better than the previous team in the last project. We were quite disorganized with our design at first because everyone was designing their own interpretation of tropical discovery platform in a form of models, but eventually, we came together and started designing the structure as a team so that our design and progress will be much more consistent. What I learned from this project is that you should always start with a design narrative first so that the design will be much more consistent and more thought out instead of starting with designing the model first. I also learned the use of natural lighting and shadows in structure to show design principles and ways to play with it, for example, using natural light to divert the user's attention or as a guiding light from space to space.
