tropical wildlife discovery unit
For this project, we are to design a Tropical Wildlife Discovery Unit at Bukit Jalil Recreational Park within the built-up space of maximum 100sqm and should accommodate 2 people. The design should also show indications of design response to the site and climate there. We have to do 2 site analyses, 1 for the macro site (large group task) and the other for our chosen microsite (small group task) in a group of 4. For the macro site, I chose to be part of the Site Layout team. After joining our selected teams, we had to do a site visit to the park so that we get more accurate information and our research for the site context will be more more detailed. For the micro site, we chose somewhere in the middle, in front of the pond so that we get to have a wide, close-up view of the beautiful pond. We will need to do design vignettes for our micro site to show the site analysis and design response in the form of diagrams. We then move on to the individual task, where we will need to design our tropical wildlife discovery unit in our chosen micro site that shows our design intentions and it should have a discovery, working, discussion, resting space and a washroom.

Overall this project was a fun learning experience for me as I get to do my first site visit for the AD module and I enjoy looking at nature as well. Besides that, I also had fun designing my structure and making my model because it was the first time that we were given a site to work on. While working on this project, I've utilized the skills and drawings that I learned form the previous projects to help me have a smoother design process, such as, using architectural diagrams. Moreover, It has improved my drawing skills because there are a lot of required drawings for the presentation board and I also learned how to plan my presentation boards better. Another interesting thing that I've learned from this project is structure and construction, your structure needs a reality check and the design heeds to be appropriate in terms of structure as well as how it is constructed. Time management was something that I could definitely work on while working on this project because there were a lot drawings and I had to plan my presentation boards but fortunately, I made it before the tight deadline.
