My Space

For this assignment, students are exposed to more technical drawing conventions. We are tasked to draw out our personal space in various views. We are also required to draw a piece of furniture from our personal space. The drawings are to be done on a A4 paper.

For the first week, I had only completed the plan view due to me figuring out how to use the scale ruler and it was my first time drawing the plan of a space. I also spent a lot of time measuring all the furniture and walls of my personal space so I can use it as reference for later drawings.

In the following week, I started out with my elevation drawings both of them were quite time consuming because I was figuring out how the furniture would look like in 2D drawings and I had to draw out many details as well.

In the third and fourth week, I completed the section drawing of my space as well as the plan and 1st elevation view of my drawer. Drawing the section view was quite time consuming but the drawing the drawers was relatively easy and less time consuming.

For the final week, I completed every drawing and had proceeded to ink my drawings. Drawing the detail of drawer required a lot of patience and time as well.

Reflection

Overall, this assignment a valuable learning experience for me as now I know the basics of technical drawing that is used in the construction industry. It had helped me to perceive 3D furniture into 2D better as well. Furthermore, I also had fun drawing out my own space.
