final project
the discovery center
visitor center for tanjung tuan recreational forest.
As for this project, we are tasked to design a poetic and meaningful visitor center that relates to the site context of the Tanjung Tuan Recreational Forest. The center should be designed with the people, culture, history and the site heritage in mind as well as to conform to the structural, site and the common user requirements. My center was centered around the idea of preserving the nature of Tanjung Tuan Recreational Forest in as a educational and recreational source. Evoking and encourage conversations, socializing, bringing and creating a community together in an architecture was one of the aims as well.
reflection
After completing this project, I have developed my skills in creating poetic spaces as well as experiential spatial journey in consideration of the site context within an architecture. It gave me deeper insight of structural requirements of a building and by doing the schedule of accommodation, I have learned the minimum requirements of area of an space for the user to have an comfortable experience. Additionally, doing the schedule of accommodation has helped me to manage and utilize the spaces within my architecture efficiently. For this project, I decide to take a risk and commit doing almost everything digitally even though I didn't have much proficiency yet on digital art skills before starting this project. It has forced me to learn how to use Revit and Photoshop and I am very glad I did it because I have a new set of skills I can utilize now which I plan on improving as well. Overall, the project was a valuable learning experience for me as I have gained an increased proficiency in using digital design tools and improved my digital communication skills such as translating my ideas into architecture.
